How people contribute to Nature
- Recycling
Recycling is a process to change (waste) materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials. It also reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution and water pollution by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production.
Benefits of Recycling
The benefits of recycling go far beyond the materials we keep out of the landfill. Overall, recycling can:
- Conserve resources for the future.
- Prevent emissions of many greenhouse gases and water pollutants.
- Save energy.
- Supply valuable raw materials to industry.
- Create jobs.
Disadvantages of Recycling
- Each recyclable material has its own way of being recycled, some creating a great deal of pollution while others cause almost no problems at all.
- Another disadvantage of recycling is that each material will need to have its own special machinery and chemicals in order to be properly recycled. All of these things together can consume a large amount of electricity, causing energy companies to consume more natural resources while emitting harmful gases.
- Recycled Items Might Not Last Long – The durability and efficiency of recycled products are not guaranteed a hundred percent. Recycled products are sometimes taken from cheap and overused materials therefore there is no assurance that it can last for long.
